Karri Christiansen, LSW, CADC
Karri Christiansen earned her Master’s degree in Social Work from Aurora University. Karri is also a Certified Addictions Counselor (CADC) & holds certificates in Traumatic Stress Studies & Emotionally-Focused Couples Therapy. She has a passion for helping people find their way from mental illness to mental wellness.
Karri believes everyone has a story to tell & that through the work of recovery, people living with mental illness & substance use disorders can rewrite the ending to their own stories. Coming from a strengths-based perspective, Karri uses an eclectic mix of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing & Positive Psychology to help people learn how to live their best lives &
become the people they always were meant to be.
As an addictions counselor, Karri helps people find their way out of the quagmire of substance use disorders into a life of recovery. She believes that by faithfully attending 12-step recovery programs, building one’s self-esteem & working to create relapse prevention plans, one can throw off the shackles of substance use disorders.
Karri also has several years of experience in crisis intervention & crisis counseling. She can help people living with mental illness & substance use disorders navigate mental health crises in order to return to living their best lives.
As an avid runner & boxing enthusiast, Karri also believes in incorporating physical activity into wellness plans to get those endorphins moving! We now know that 30 minutes of physical activity in nature does wonders to improve overall mental health.
