Julia Jenvey, LCSW
Julia Jenvey thinks of therapy as a creative collaboration – together, guest and therapist test out new strategies, find new perspectives, and develop new habits. Julia studied Psychology and English at University of Wisconsin –Madison and has a Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work from University of Chicago. She understands that guests often feel stuck in cycles of thinking, feeling, and reacting. Her goal is to create a space in which guests feel comfortable experimenting to find alternative perspectives and responses.
As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Julia has spent much of her career in community mental health and is an advocate for healthcare accessibility and health literacy. She works with a broad range of people, always emphasizing, above all, the interchange between physical and mental health.
Julia takes an integrated approach- she believes that recognizing our own capacity for change is a powerful experience. She focuses on key moments when guests first recognize a concrete example of their own progress, and then works to build on those moments by giving tools, skills, and direction.
She believes that the therapy can help us learn how to best care for ourselves, nurture intimate relationships, and develop psychological flexibility—essential components to living a fulfilled, meaningful life.
When she is not backpacking through the National Parks, running, or doing Pilates, she can usually be found at home cooking up a storm while entertaining her two mischievous cats. She is accepting new guests at our Wicker Park studios.
